Our client is a leading Irish supplier of Credit Union solutions serving over 200 clients and trusted by the sector for more than 25 years.

Their core platform, a powerful Umbraco-based system, supports digital banking portals and mobile apps across their customer base. But with their product running on Umbraco v8, they faced the challenge of upgrading their base project to version 17 and ensuring a smooth migration of all client sites.

We worked alongside the client's internal team as a long-term technical partner, supporting the platform's evolution from planning through delivery.

Our Approach

The client needed a technical partner capable of integrating quickly into an ongoing project and supporting their internal teams throughout a complex migration from Umbraco v8 to v17.

Having previously worked with members of the Double Shore team, I already had an established level of trust and familiarity. Combined with strong Umbraco expertise and a highly competitive nearshore model compared to UK-based alternatives, Double Shore became a natural extension of the team.

Working closely with the client's internal engineering team, we delivered a system capable of migrating directly from Umbraco v8 to v17 using a structured approach that prioritised consistency, maintainability, and long-term platform stability.

Our role included technical analysis, backend automation, ongoing development support and collaborative sprint planning, helping streamline delivery while reducing manual effort and operational risk.

This allowed the client's team to stay focused on supporting their customers and evolving their product, while we strengthened the technical delivery behind the scenes.

Rather than treating each migration as an isolated project, we created a structured process that improved consistency, reduced manual effort and minimised risk across the entire platform ecosystem.

More importantly, the partnership created a stronger technical foundation for future growth and continued product evolution.
